When you look at one of my portraits, you might first see the person — their smile, the way the light hits their hair, the setting. But if you look a little closer, you’ll start to notice something else.
A certain bird in the background. A flower that shouldn’t be blooming in that season. A tiny object tucked into the scene.
These aren’t just there to look pretty — they’re part of the story.
As a storytelling portrait photographer, I design each session around all the little things that make you you.
These details might not mean much to someone else, but to you, they’re a connection to your life and your memories. I love weaving them into your portrait so that every time you see your custom portrait, you’re reminded of that story.
Because it makes your art personal. It turns your portrait from something that’s just beautiful into something that’s yours.
Imagine hanging your portrait in your living room. Most guests will admire it for its beauty. But someone close to you might suddenly notice, “Hey, isn’t that your old blue blanket in the background?” And you can smile and say, “Yes, it is.”
It becomes like a secret language between you and the people who know you best. That's the heart of meaningful family photography - not just capturing how you look, but telling who you are.
Since I create many of my portraits through compositing (blending multiple images together), I can add just about anything — even if it doesn’t exist in the same time or place.
If you want a summer meadow in the middle of winter, a moon larger than life, or your childhood treehouse in the background — we can make it happen.
This is what makes fine art portrait photography so special — we get to create a world that belongs only to you, filled with the colors, symbols, and moments that matter most.
Your portrait should be more than a nice picture — it should be a piece of art that feels personal and meaningful every time you see it.
If you’re looking for a fine art portrait photographer in Park City, Utah who will create something one-of-a-kind, let's start.
